CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 415-405 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 23 mm, 7.73 g, 10 h). [TAPAΣ] Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to right, his left arm outstretched and resting his right hand on the dolphin; below, A. Rev. Nude youth riding horse standing right, raising his right hand to crown the horse's head and holding bridles in his left; to right, kerykeion. Fischer-Bossert 299 (V135/R231). HN Italy 851. Vlasto 324. Rare and nicely toned. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die and with light scratches, otherwise, nearly very fine.
